Welcoming Christmas, a West Papua MRP Chair Appeals People to Maintain Peace

goodmorningpapua.com – A chairman of the West Papuan Papuan People’s Council (MRP), Maxsi Nelson Ahoren, appealed to the public to participate in maintaining public security and order ahead of Christmas and the New Year (Nataru).

“To all elements of society, both youth, religious leaders, women’s leaders and indigenous peoples, most expected to participate in maintaining security in the surrounding environment so that we welcome the Christmas of the birth of Jesus Christ with joy and love with the family,” Ahoren said when met by reporters in his office, Tuesday 21 December 2021.

The former member of the DPR for West Papua asked the public not to take actions that could tarnish the meaning of Christmas. This is what happened in Manokwari, Teluk Bintuni, Sorong and Maybrat.

“Christmas is just a few days, don’t tarnish it with actions that can tarnish the meaning of Christmas. People should not be afraid to worship and celebrate Christmas peacefully like in previous years,” he said.

The candidate for Regent of South Manokwari (Mansel) also invites the community to maintain peace so that they can focus on serving God. He also hopes that the security forces will not carry out excessive security, because it can make people afraid.

“The TNI-AD and Polri can mingle with the community, such as relatives or their own families in the security environment, so that people become comfortable and calm,” hoped Ahoren.
