Water Resources Potential at Papua is The Greatest

goodmorningpapua.com – Papua has a very large potential of water resources reaching 3.9 trillion m3 / year with a hydroelectric potential of 75,000 megawatts (MW), which until now has not been optimally utilized.

Papua has the greatest water potential of all parts of Indonesia because of its highest rainfall. However, the management must be appropriate.

Seeing the condition of the population, which is currently still small, the government prioritizes the management of SDA (water resources) at Papua for the development of small irrigation networks for the sake of supporting agriculture. So that in the future, along with population growth, the large-scale natural resource infrastructure development will be increased

Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono in his written statement stated that the food, water and energy sectors will be the commander of national development for the future, as well as the spearhead of competition between countries.

In his view, the SDA Law is an entry point and belongs to all Indonesian people. The government hopes that all elements can oversee and provide input so that the values of Pancasila become the spirit in every management of water resources in Papua to create justice for the people of Indonesia in general and Papua in particular.
