So that, Vice President (Wapres) Ma’ruf Amin continues to push for the acceleration of welfare development for the Papua Province and West Papua Province to be implemented immediately.
On that occasion, the Vice President discussed the development of an action plan for accelerating the development of welfare development in Papua, including program activities and the budget to be allocated for the development.
“The focus of development is in 7 fields in accordance with the Presidential Instruction, yes, poverty, education, health, micro and small businesses, employment, infrastructure, and achieving SDG’s,” said the Vice President.
Furthermore, the Vice President requested that Bappenas in preparing the program of activities be able to map out problems and ensure that all plans and work programs are in line with regional needs. “There is all the data, I want the planning made by Bappenas to be in accordance with regional conditions, according to 7 focus areas, so that areas with lagging welfare levels can be identified and program activities are available,” said the Vice President.
For example, in the field of education, the Vice President realizes that the dropout rate is still high and in the health sector, many residents still have difficulty accessing health service posts, so the Vice President asks that the right solution for all problems be immediately provided. “Identification must be done. To solve the problem, we must be data-based, so that the right solution can be found,” said the Vice President.
Furthermore, the Vice President said that after identifying the sources of funding could be used, Bappenas would immediately encourage the realization of the use of the budget. Previously, Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas Suharso Monoarfa explained about quick wins based on Presidential Instruction Number 9 of 2020 concerning Acceleration of Welfare Development in Papua Province and West Papua Province, namely quick wins are part of the action plan to be completed in 2021-2022 and will be held as many as 231 activities.
For information, the Vice President has summoned the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud M.D. related to security conditions in Papua and Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani to discuss the welfare development budget in Papua and West Papua. The Vice President will continue to monitor and coordinate relevant ministries/institutions so that the acceleration of welfare development in Papua and West Papua is immediately realized.
