Reaching Rp457 billion, the Papuan PON Athlete Bonus is the Highest in Indonesia – The Papuan Provincial Government will give bonuses to athletes reaching achievements in the XX National Sports Week (PON) on Saturday, November 20, 2021. A total of Rp. 457 billion has been prepared for the athlete bonus.

The General Secretary of KONI Papua, Kenius Kogoya, said that the athlete bonus would be handed over at Istora Papua Bangkit, Jayapura Regency. As stated by him, the bonus for Papuan athletes is the highest in Indonesia, reaching Rp. 457 billion.

“After we calculated the budget needed for the bonus, it was around Rp. 457.624 billion. The amount is very significant. The bonus is going to be provided for athletes who have made the name of Papua proud and of course the pride of the Papuan people,” said Kenius in Jayapura Friday, November 19, 2021.

Papua Governor Lukas Enembe, said Kenius, has targeted the Papuan contingent to be included in the top 5 of the XX PON event. Meanwhile, in its implementation, Papua succeeded to enter the top 4.

“This is an achievement that is a prayer support from the community, so that Papua can achieve 4th place with 93 gold medals, 66 silver and 102 bronze medals,” Kenius explained.

When asked about the athlete bonus tax, Kenius confirmed that it would be the responsibility of the Papuan government. This is conveyed considering the athlete’s bonus tax is quite large up to 30 percent.
