PLN’s Quick Action to Restore Electricity after Floods and Landslides at Jayapura – PLN acted quickly to normalize electricity supply to customers after the extreme weather occurred on Thursday to Friday morning in Jayapura and its surroundings. A total of 225 officers were deployed and as of 12.00 WIT, 107 substations out of a total of 220 affected substations had been successfully restored.

A General Manager of PLN Main Unit for Papua and West Papua Region, Abdul Farid explained that his party is trying as much as possible to restore the electricity system in Jayapura and its surroundings.

“Currently the progress is 48% percent. 113 substations, some of which collapsed and were submerged, are still being repaired by our officers in the field, he said.

The following are the affected locations that are currently still being normalized by PLN officers:

  • Location of Jayapura Regency: BTN Gajah Mada Sentani, Kertosari, Depapre, to the end of Amai Beach.
  • Abepura Locations: Organda Complex, Autonomous Office, BTN Skyland, Yotefa Market, BTN Tanah Hitam under Kali Acai, Youth Center and Expo Waena
  • Location Jayapura City: Gaja Putih, Kalam Kudus, Ampera Market, Paldam, Ajendam, Marthen Indey Hospital, Old Military Command, New Military Command, behind Entrop Terminal, APO Kali, RSUD Dok II, Bhayangkara, Yapis, Dock V Upper, Leopard and State Building.

“We apologize for the inconvenience, for the time being we cannot turn on the electricity in these locations. We are trying to restore electricity supply for customers,” said Farid.

Meanwhile, Farid added that the power supply from the generator is in a safe condition. “Thanks for the generator in good condition. Please pray that our officers can complete network repairs quickly and electricity can return to normal,” he concluded.
