Papua’s Litbangkes Performs Intensive Examination on the Delta Variant

goodmorningpapua.com – The Papua Health Research and Development Center (Litbangkes) has begun to examine the presence or absence of Delta variant of the Covid-19 in the province. The sample examined was to determine whether the Delta variant had spread in Papua or not, and the results were only known a month later.

“It is true that we have started to carry out examination after collecting 48 samples from Covid-19 patients,” said a Head of Papua Health Research and Development Dr. Antonius Oktaviandi Jayapura, Sunday (18/7).

It is said, there are four laboratory officers having assignment to handle the examination of the sample. The samples examined were from re-infected patients with severe symptoms, already vaccinated and heavily infected, children with low CT or severe symptoms and massive spread.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Papua Labkesda Sally Ajawaila admitted that although the laboratory had not confirmed the existence of the Delta variant, the conditions found from the results of laboratory examinations revealed that the CT of Covid-19 positive patients was low. “But to make sure we are still waiting for the results of the examination from Litbangkes Papua,” said Sally Ajawaila.

He added that the current contagion is faster, for example, if one person is found to be positive, then those who are in close contact after being examined are 90 percent positive. He hopes that the public will strictly adhere to the health protocols.
