Gift of Indonesian Independence, 3 Regencies in the Meepago Traditional Territory Enjoy 24 Hours of Electricity – PLN has succeeded in increasing the time of electricity use in Dogiyai, Deiyai and Paniai Regencies from 18 hours per day to a full 24 hours. The increase in the duration of time is a special gift for the people of the three districts during the 76th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.

In addition to focusing on electrifying areas that do not have electricity in Papua and West Papua, PLN also continually increase the time of operation in locations that have electricity and require an additional time of operation.

This effort to increase the hours of operation was started by PLN in February 2021. Previously, the electricity system in each of the 3 districts was independent. In order to improve the reliability of electricity supply, PLN decided to connect the electricity grids of the three districts and centralize the power plant in Deiyai.

“Alhamdulillah, currently customers in Dogiyai, Deiyai and Paniai Regencies can feel electricity 24 hours every day. We thank the government, the community and all parties for their support so that PLN can complete this work. We are committed to supply electricity full of 24 hours, we will do it from today onwards,” said PLN Manager for Nabire’s Customer Service Implementation Unit (UP3), Manihar Hutajulu.

Currently, six generators with a total capacity of 3.6 MW have been operating to supply electricity to customers in Deiyai, Dogiyai and Paniai Regencies. With 6,342 existing customers and a peak load of around 2 MW, this amount still leaves a power surplus of 1.6 MW.

“Furthermore, we will strive so that the electricity supply provided to customers can continue to be reliable,” said Manihar.

Meanwhile, on the matter of electricity network, PLN has connected the electricity system in 3 districts with a total network length of 200.02 kms.

“We have also repaired and replaced the out of order networks. In the future, PLN will continue to make efforts to strengthen it through network expansion, additional equipment and periodic maintenance, so that the electricity supply from generators can be channeled more optimally,” he added.

PLN hopes that the additional time of of this electricity will provide good benefits and encourage increased the economic growth, health services, education and others for the people in Dogiyai, Deiyai and Paniai, “concluded Manihar.
