goodmorningpapua.com – Bank Indonesia West Papua inaugurated its fostered MSME Corner located in the area of Rendani Manokwari Airport and Sorong DEO Airport, Thursday 11 November 2021.
A Head of Bank Indonesia West Papua Representative, Rut W. Eka Trisilowati said, the MSME Corner is one form of Bank Indonesia’s real contribution to the development of MSMEs in the region.
The MSME Corner runs in synergy between Bank Indonesia and Dekranasda, MSMEs assisted by Bank Indonesia, Class IIB Manokwari Correctional Institution and DEO Art Souvenir Sorong.
“So far, 4 Bank Indonesia MSME corner locations have been operating at Sorong DEO Airport, Rendani Manokwari Airport, Oriestom Bay Hotel and Restaurant and Mansinam Beach Resto,” said Rut in her opening remarks for the MSME Corner at Rendani Airport, Manokwari.
According to Rut, the micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) sector is still the backbone of the national economy, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. Experience shows that during the economic crisis, MSMEs managed to survive and contribute to the recovery of the Indonesian economy.
Based on data from the Ministry of Cooperatives and MSMEs, in 2018 the number of businesses in the sector reached 64.19 million units and was able to absorb 116.97 million workers.
Bank Indonesia has conducted a mentoring program for West Papuan MSMEs since the beginning of its existence in 2014. Starting from improving the competence of MSME actors, improving the quality of the production process, standardizing product packaging, financial management, managing various kinds of product licensing, to market expansion.
The head of the Dekranasda, Juliana Mandacan, appreciates the initiative from Bank Indonesia West Papua which has never stopped paying attention to MSMEs. The presence of the MSME Corner of Bank Indonesia is expected to expand and facilitate access to promotion of MSME products.
