A Tourism Village of Namatota, the Hidden Gem in Kaimana West Papua

goodmorningpapua.com – The eastern region of Indonesia seems always to have a lovely place that deserves to be explored. One of them is the Namatota tourism village in Kaimana Regency, West Papua which is also included in the top 300 of the 2021 Indonesian Tourism Village Award.

A Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, was astonished by the natural beauty and tourism potential over there. “The Namatota Tourism Village or what we can call The Hidden Gem is a destination becoming a tourism gateway for both domestic and foreign tourists, which of course presents a marine tourism attraction that is in accord with marine sustainability,” he said, Tuesday, October 26, 2021.

The Namatota Village can be reached in about 30-45 minutes from Kaimana Harbor by speedboat. Approaching the pier of Kampung Namatota, visitors are displayed of views of clear sea water and full of fish and coral reefs.

Sandiaga was lured into swimming from the ship he was riding on to the beach in Namatota Village. “Today I am really happy to swim from the edge of Namatota Village to the beach and was greeted so lively and I thank the people of Namatota Village,” he said.

In addition to its natural beauty, Namatota Village is known for its historical value, especially in terms of the spread of Islam in Kaimana. In the past there were two Islamic kingdoms in Kaimana, namely Namatota and Kumisi.

Unfortunately, this tourism village is still constrained by problems of telecommunication connectivity. Sandiaga said he would ask Telkomsel and Tower Bersama Group to provide a telecommunications network in Namatota Village. “Just now, there was a request from Mr. Raja Namatota to provide telecommunications connections here. So I get Telkomsel and Tower Bersama to set BTS here for three months,” said Sandiaga.
