goodmorningpapua.com – Fientje Suebu is the first Papuan woman appointed as a Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia for New Zealand. The Provincial Government of Papua provides appreciation on the state’s trust in Papuan women.
The appreciation was conveyed by a Head of the Papua Province Communication and Information Office, Jery Yudianto when contacted by telephone, Tuesday, October 26, 2021.
“In principle, we give appreciation. For the process of selecting an ambassador goes through a long procedure, there is a fit and proper test at Commission I of the DPR RI,” said Jery Yudianto.
As stated by Jery, Fientje Suebu’s career as a diplomat from Jayapura Regency, Papua Province is very long. Fientje herself has served for 31 years at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.
“She has also had a long career at the embassy and she also started her career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, automatically we give appreciation,” he said.
Jery believes that her position as the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia for New Zealand is very strategic. Because, the government is intensively holding the Pacific Exposition to introduce the Indonesian, especially Papuan, economy and trade for the Pacific region.
Jery hopes that the election of Fientje Suebu will give color to Indonesia. Likewise, it is hoped that national events will be carried out continously, even those involving the region, especially Papua, will continue to grow.
“There have been several things that have been conducted by previous ambassadors, specifically there is an event that will be held Exposition 2021 in the close future. We, Papuans, are participating and there are several things that we will display virtually later, of course, we hope that together with stakeholders, the Central Government especially with the Papua Provincial Government can carry on the event,” he concluded.
